Let’s start by stating the obvious that race is an issue today. And let’s also admit that it’s been an issue for a while, including in past centuries where whites enslaved Africans based on skin color.
But that was the nineteenth century, and we’ve come a long way since then. Slavery is now illegal in America and Europe… Various forms of discrimination are either illegal or socially condemned… And it’s obviously possible for a black man to rule the most powerful nation in the world. So while white racists still exists, they obviously don’t have all that much power.
But here’s the thing about racism: It isn’t a one-way street, no matter how hard certain people would like to make it out to be. Caucasians aren’t the only ones capable of bigotry and of treating people like dirt for completely extraneous reasons. Saying otherwise is just as dangerous as denying the evils done by whites throughout history.
Back when blacks weren’t considered relevant, it caused both a lot of short-term and long lasting problems that are still reverberating today. That’s the reason why so many Caucasians across Europe and North America feel so guilty saying anything negative about anybody who isn’t white, regardless of whether criticism is obviously deserved or not.
But shifting racism doesn’t solve anything; it just creates different victims.
Those victims include a 15-year-old girl in England who was “passed around” a prostitution ring back in 2008. The UK’s Telegraph reports: “She was being driven to flats and houses to be raped by up to five men a night, four or five days a week. She was singled out because she was white, vulnerable and under-age.”
Yet when she went to the police, they ignored her because of the detailed descriptions of Middle Eastern men she was able to give. Because of the authority’s failure to act, at least 5 and as many as 50 other girls suffered similarly at the hands of the same gang over the next several years.
Meanwhile, in America, the whole Trayvon Martin case, proves white guilt is no less a problem here. After all, if George Zimmerman had shot a white teenager in self-defense instead of a black one, chances are he wouldn’t have received numerous death threats, faced a witch-hunt trial, and had to go into hiding to avoid the illegal but judicially un-condemned bounty placed on his head.
America is also the nation where Naoimi Schaefer Riley just got fired for publishing justified criticism of Black Studies on various college and university campuses, an educational focus that preaches liberal propaganda instead of encouraging independent thinking.
And it’s also the nation where white people apparently feel so pressured to not be white that they make up ridiculously inaccurate stories about their heritage, such as in the case of Harvard Law Professor Elizabeth Warren, who likes to claim an infinitesimal drop of Cherokee blood… even though her actual ancestors apparently helped orchestrate the Trail of Tears.
White guilt is clearly making a mockery of us all. But we’re too scared to do anything about it.
