Let’s Keep It Classy, People

So we have an egotistical narcissist for a President, a man who will say or do anything to get his way, even if it means the ruin of an entire nation.

That’s frustrating. And it’s frightening. And it’s downright irritating.

But that’s no excuse for us to stoop to his level, as some anti-Obama voters seem to be doing these days.

Up in Hanson, Massachusetts, for example, somebody or some organization is putting up billboards expressing their dislike of the current woefully subpar federal administration. One billboard in particular features a picture of a girl, maybe nine or ten, holding up her middle finger and pouting next to the words:

“Thanks, Obama. You’ve spent my lunch money, my allowance, my inheritance, 35 years of future paychecks and my retirement. You Jerk. Vote Mitt Romney For 2012.”

I have no problem with the words themselves. Even the “You Jerk” – which certainly isn’t the most respectful thing to say about the President of the United States – doesn’t seem unjustified or even unclassy to me.

But the middle finger? That didn’t need to be there. Plain and simple.

As one passerbyer succinctly put it: “It’s being offensive. I think you can send out the message without being this drastic.”

The same, I would say, applies to a similar billboard in the same general area. This one shows a picture of a smiling President Obama, who just so happens to be wearing the communist hammer and sickle symbols on his shirt collar.

Again, no big deal in my mind. If he isn’t a bonafide communist, then he’s certainly a groupie. But it is a big deal when the accompanying text says: “Somewhere in Kenya a village is missing its idiot. Obama – One Big Ass Mistake America. Vote Mitt Romney For 2012.”

Correct? Part of it, at least, definitely is. But again, there’s a much better way of phrasing it: A way that doesn’t involve language unbecoming to the educated.

We have the truth on our side. So why resort to immaturity? That’s the weapon – the only one – that President Obama and his liberal allies have left in their arsenal.

Let’s let them have that one and stick with the good stuff instead.

Yahoo!’s David Chalian Calls Republicans Racist While Fellow Democrat Defaces Mia Love’s Wikipedia Description

“Bigotry: 1. Stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one’s own. 2. The actions, beliefs, prejudices, etc., of a bigot.”

That’s according to dictionary.com, though it might have added a third definition: The Democrat Party and general liberal credo. Incidentally, that meaning also works for the word “Hypocrite.”

And both terms come solidly into play in the larger party’s recent (and not-so-recent) behavior…

During live coverage of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida on Monday night, Yahoo! News’s Washington Bureau Chief David Chalian accidentally broadcasted his personal views of the people he was supposedly objectively covering.

“They aren’t concerned at all,” he complained without hitting the proper buttons to mute himself. “They are happy to have a party with black people drowning.”

Chalian has since been fired for his incompetence (though doubtlessly not his bigoted opinion, which the mainstream media – Yahoo! included – widely holds).

Meanwhile, one of his own party members took to the equally liberal Wikipedia to opine against Mia Love, a conservative, first generation American whose parents emigrated from Haiti.

She also just so happens to be black.

Currently, Mia Love is the mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and is running against Democrat Jim Matheson to serve as United States Representative for Utah’s fourth congressional district. An up-and-comer with a powerful message, she spoke at the RNC to much applause and admiration.

That is to say that those racist Republicans who are so “happy to have a party with black people drowning” took to her and her speech enthusiastically. Democrats on the other hand might not have been so happy, judging by her edited Wikipedia entry, which in part read:

“So, in other words, she is a total sell-out to the Right Wing Hate Machine and the greedy bigots who control the GOP ad love to see people like Mia Love be exploited like the House N*gg*r she truly is.”

Other sections referenced her as an “Aunt Tom” and a “dirty, worthless whore.”

And this from somebody who belongs to a party that loves minorities and women? Then why is it that when minorities and women don’t subjugate themselves to Democrat standards, they’re instantly deemed unauthentic and slapped with vile slurs regarding their race and/or gender?

It’s blatantly bigoted and mind-numbingly hypocritical from any standard… even a liberal one.

Another Few Remarks on the American Education System

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I know a lot of teachers. In fact, two of my closest and dearest friends are teachers, one in special education and one a substitute.

And yet I still have to take issue with the American education system. Not against my friends and not against their colleagues who actually work hard to help students grow as intellectuals and as people… but against the overwhelming hordes of incompetent, uncaring, lecherously insecure, tenure abusers or worn-out educators who merely work for a paycheck and nothing else.

That list includes Shayla Smith, a fifth grade math teacher who helped her students cheat because, according to her, they were “dumb as hell.”

Now here’s the thing: She might not be wrong and they might actually be exactly what she accused them as due to prolonged exposure to an altogether subpar and downright detrimental education system.

But that doesn’t mean Smith was right in offering them further assistance down the cushy road towards mindless stupidity.

If more teachers would start doing the jobs they’re paid for – which involves recognizing educational needs and seeking to meet them – then we’d probably have a lot less Code Pink wackos wasting everybody’s time trying to arrest Condoleezza Rice for war crimes… and more people living financially and intellectually free lives filled with personal purpose.

That is what an education is supposed to do: Challenge us to reach our full potential.

Instead, it seems largely content to train us in the unfulfilling art of seeking out the easiest or most short-term solutions while waiting passively to die.

Vagina-Wearing Code Pink Crazies, Samuel L. Jackson, and the Older Chick Who Looks Like That Other Older Chick Who Plays on Covert Affairs Showcase Their Pointlessness

You know what’s difficult?

Having such rational, fair-minded, intelligent opponents. That’s what’s difficult.

It’s hard to argue with people who present their opinions in such respectful, reputable, reasonable terms. I mean, what’s to be said in the face of facts stated so calmly and wisely?

Fortunately, Republicans don’t have to worry about that. We have the opposite problem…

Like down in Tampa, Florida at the Republican National Convention, where Code Pink crazies once again dressed up in giant vagina costumes and held signs saying: “Read my lips. Leave my vagina alone” and “GOP: Respect Women.”

Personally, I’d really rather not read their lips and would much rather them please put those things away. Why can’t they just act like normal liberals and stick to writing nasty tweets?

Samuel L. Jackson, for example, knows the drill. Yesterday, he took to Twitter complaining that he wasn’t “understanding God’s plan” – which was “unfair sh*t” – not to hit the RNC. Of course, he somewhat spoiled that class act less than half an hour later when he went back to tweet: “Apologies to God, Tampa, da GOP&Isaac(sp)! Who played the Race card?!”

No idea what he meant with that last line. Not that it matters much what he says one way or the other. Despite his epic ability to use the F-word, Samuel L. Jackson is really rather pointless.

So is Ellen Barkin, who looks something like Kari Matchett, who plays the no-nonsense boss on that really lame, badly acted, badly scripted show, Covert Affairs. (See how pointless she is?)

Ellen Barkin also climbed aboard a soapbox to retweet something somebody had tweeted to her. It read: “C’mon #Isaac! Wash every pro-life, anti-education, anti-woman, xenophobic, gay-bashing, racist SOB right into the ocean! #RNC”

Far less pointless – in fact, a definite “Oh Snap!” response – was what Bryan Kemper, Director of Youth Outreach for Priests for Life, took from that immature request…

“This is why we call pro-abortion people anti-life.” And he continued: “It is no surprise to me that the pro-abortion side would have things like this to say about other human persons. They already stand for the slaughter of innocent people inside the womb; why not expand that slaughter to outside the womb?”

Well stated. Only problem is that it’s rather wasted on such irrational, close-minded, unintelligent, disrespectful, disreputable, unreasonable opponents.

And that’s not so much difficult; it’s just really sad.

Billboard Compares Osama bin Laden to the Threat of Reelecting President Obama

A billboard that first appeared in Indiana is now showing up in Texas. Featuring two camouflage-covered soldiers with guns, it reads:

“The SEALS removed one threat to America. Remove the other in November.”

The comparison being made to Osama bin Laden and President Obama might seem over the top to some, but it might really just be unfairly unflattering to the former, not the latter. After all, Osama bin Laden couldn’t keep the United States down for very long, not with the U.S.S. Cole bombing in 1999 and not with the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

But then there’s President Obama, who is dismantling our way of life piece by piece.

Our still somewhat free market is being ripped apart through crony capitalist deals cleverly (or not so cleverly) concealed in bailouts and federal grants.

Our economy is being continually repressed by rules, regulations and the threat of more to come.

Our superior health care system is being thrown out in favor of something that leads to shortages, harried and uncaring medical personnel, and prolonged wait lines that extend for months instead of yards.

All the while, our people are being told to fight amongst each other, demanding what we didn’t earn and reviling anybody who has a different opinion.

It’s a nonstop barrage from President Obama and his team, whereas Osama bin Laden was only able to strike once or twice a year at best. The foreign terrorist could only send the economy into a sinkhole for a short while after bringing down the Twin Towers, but our foolishly elected leader has kept us depressed for three and a half years now.

That’s why the billboard isn’t nearly as over the top as it might first appear.

Not even close.

America Ignorantly Prides Itself on Its Ability to Identify Hate Crimes

Once again, reading the news is reminding me of Russ Lee’s “Living Life Upside Down” lyrics.

The chorus goes:

What if we’ve fallen to the bottom of a well thinking we’ve risen to the top of a mountain?
What if we’re knocking at the gates of hell thinking we’re heaven bound?
What if we spend our lives thinking of ourselves when we should have been thinking of each other?
What if we reach up and touch the ground to find we’re living life upside down?

The rest of the lyrics are just as provocative and well worth the read. Despite the fact that the song was written decades ago, it’s even more relevant today than when it first debuted.

We really are calling right wrong and wrong a right with a perception that’s so skewed, it would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad. And what’s worse, we pride ourselves on our skewed interpretations!

For example, according to a New York section of CBS News, “Police are investigating an unusual bias crime on Staten Island.

“Muslims who gathered for prayer to celebrate the end of Ramadan in a city park found bacon scattered on the ground, CBS 2’s John Slattery reported Monday.

“With Ramadan ending this past weekend, Muslims celebrated the end of fasting with prayer. On Staten Island an outdoor service was held Sunday on a New Dorp football field, attracting some 1,500 Muslims.

“But before most of the faith arrived for Morning Prayer, it was discovered that someone had scattered a quantity of raw bacon on the field.”

And because Muslims don’t eat bacon, this disrespectful stunt is being labeled ahate crime.

No offense to Muslims, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly – who decried the act as “a bias event” – and the “Hate Crime Task Force” that made the determination, but this is utterly ridiculous.

Was it wrong? Of course! And the perpetrator deserves a stint in the pokey or some serious community service for his act of vandalism.

But moving hate crimes (which are a ridiculous characterization in the first place, since most crimes aren’t exactly committed out of peace, love and good will to all mankind) from encompassing acts of physical violence to including acts of vulgar stupidity turns the term into even more of a joke than it already is.

It seems to me that the expression was first coined to makes Americans and the rest of the west feel better about living comparatively cushy lives when there’s so much unbridled hatred elsewhere, as evidenced by the crucifixions of political dissidents in Egypt, which I detailed in yesterday’s blog.

Or how about the 11-year-old Christian girl accused of burning Koran pages in Pakistan? Police arrested the child and took her parents into “protective custody,” while a large angry mob of Muslim men set fire to the houses of other Christians in the neighborhood in retaliation.

I’m not saying that Americans aren’t capable of hatred, because we certainly are. But I am saying that we’re altering our perception of reality in order to live our lives the way that we want, sans guilt or serious consideration of less comfortable topics.

Just like the song says: “We’re knocking at the gates of hell thinking we’re heaven bound.”

And all we need to do is keep on knocking to find out just how desperately wrong we are.

Code Pink Turns Womanhood and All Things Feminine into One Giant Joke

So apparently there was a feminist rally in D.C. on Saturday, complete with women in vagina costumes.

I wish I were kidding. You have no idea how much I wish I were kidding. But they were real, bona fide vagina costumes, which can be seen by clicking on the link above.

The walking vaginas – who were apparently members of the liberal organization, Code Pink – held signs calling for “Free Abortion on demand” and telling Congress to “Respect Women.”

Of course, one of those petitions is downright impossible for a fiscally intelligent, morality-based society to do, and the other one is exceptionally difficult to meet when the petitioners, who say they’re representing all women, are dressed up in… giant vagina costumes.

Did they really think this was a good idea?

Sadly, the answer seems to be yes, judging by the big smiles on their faces. But one has to wonder whether they’d find it so laudable if men walked around in giant costumes representative of their own sex organs?

The image brings to mind one particular insult, which might not match Code Pink anatomically speaking but still perfectly suits them in their giant vagina costumes all the same. Maybe Code Pink can even found a new saying? Something along the lines of: “Oh stop being a giant vagina.”

But above and beyond the additional censure they’re helping to heap on their gender, the most pathetic part of all of this (Yes, even more pathetic than dressing up in a giant vagina costume) is that while people in America are demanding free goods and services, there are people around the world just asking for free speech.

Or even free thought.

Take Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood has apparently taken to crucifying “those opposing Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi naked on trees in front of the presidential palace while abusing others.”

Meanwhile, we’re here, selfishly demanding more than we deserve and much, much more than we can handle in any sense of the word… while wearing giant vagina costumes.

Clearly, we’ve got one skewed view of how things are.

Rihanna Feels Bad for Her Abusive Ex-Boyfriend, Chris Brown… Like Really, Really Bad

Yesterday, late in the afternoon, I happened to come across an article about pop-star Rihanna, who was apparently in tears while discussing her abusive ex-boyfriend and fellow singer, Chris Brown, with Oprah Winfrey.

Now, considering that he used her face as a punching bag the last time they were dating, it’s understandable that she finds his memory worth crying over. What isn’t so comprehensible, however, is exactly why she was crying over the little punk.

Yahoo!’s Billy Johnson writes that: “The pop star’s eyes were welled with tears as she described having conflicting feelings about Brown after he assaulted her in 2009.

“‘I lost my best friend,’ Rihanna explained during the emotional conservation [sic] filmed in her home country of Barbados. ‘Like everything I knew was switched. Switched in a night. And I couldn’t control that. So I had to deal with that, and that’s not easy for me to understand or interpret. And it’s not easy to interpret on camera, not with the world watching.’”

So far, so understandable. Anybody – even the most emotionally fit woman – would have to battle a slew of difficult concepts and questions after trauma like that. But Rihanna continued:

“I felt protective. I felt like the only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird confusing space to be in because to be as angry and as hurt and betrayed, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help, and who’s gonna help him? Nobody’s gonna say he needs help. Everybody’s gonna say he’s a monster without looking at the source. I was more concerned about him.”

That’s the point in the interview/commentary when readers – especially women – should be doing a double take and asking themselves and anybody around them: “Say what!?!” and “Oh no, she didn’t!?!”

Because sadly, what the supposedly strong, sexy young woman is saying is that she’s a battered woman. She allows her life to revolve around men’s needs instead of her own, putting them first even when it’s obviously detrimental to her wellbeing.

That’s really not shocking considering how her career revolves around dressing up in ridiculously provocative outfits, singing excessively provocative lyrics, and overall peddling the idea of having sex with her far more than selling her musical talents.

Not shocking then, but it’s still sad. As is Women’s Wear Daily’s commentary on vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan, whom it gave a C for his “current brick style,” boring blue shirts and square-toed shoes, the latter of which they called one of his most “grievous mistakes.”

Maybe if we encouraged our women to concentrate more on substance than looks, we would have less battered women, like Rihanna, who seem sadly unwilling to treat themselves with the respect that they deserve as human beings.

This Level of Hatred Is Disgusting

I’m too disgusted to write today.

It’s actually taking everything in me to type these words in the face of such disgusting, pathetic levels of hatred and denial.

It makes me wonder what excuses the Germans gave themselves leading up to the totalitarian power of the Nazi regime. Or how about Russia’s revolutionaries after Czar Nicholas was overthrown?

All of that party talk about “them” versus “us,” the double speak, the anti-logic, the completely callous disregard for the truth and morality… I have to imagine that it looked something like America today.

Not that I think we’re that far gone just yet. But there are clearly Americans eager to take us there all the same.

… Americans like the LGBT volunteer who went to shoot up the Family Research Council, a conservative Christian organization, in Washington. And Americans like the people who seem so ready to defend what he tried to do. Some of the comments on the CBS News article are downright disheartening and utterly abhorrent in their single-minded devotion to their opinions.

101flyboy posted this:  “Funny how homophobes now think they're victims, or somehow on an equal playing field with the gay community. When the truth is, anti-gays choose to be bigots, and this action is a reaction of the hatred perpetrated by anti-gays. If people WEREN'T ANTI-GAY then this never would have happened. Just another example of how societally destructive homophobia is. Which is why it is considered a personality dysfunction in medical circles.”

And billholahan wrote: “August 16, 2012 The Family Research Council: It was only a matter of time before someone acted on their anger over the Family Research Council. This group is flat out wrong when it comes to gay people and family values. Shunning gay people is not a good family value, but that is what the Council is doing. They are accepting money from anti-gay entities and in turn give money to politicians who continue the nasty work of discriminating against American gay citizens.

“Violence is not the way for gays and their supporters to achieve their goal of equality. It's sad that a security guard was shot, but at the same time I feel the anger of the shooter.”

If a Christian had tried to kill LGBT lobbyists, I would be appalled. There is no way that I would even try to excuse their actions as 101flyboy, billholahan and too many others are trying to do.

In a free society, people have the right to their beliefs without having to fear bodily harm.

And if we’re really at the stage where our citizens even come close to supporting such violent opposition to such topics, then we’re seriously asking to be history’s next great act of atrocity.

Mitt Romney Decides to Fight Like a Man against Obama Attacks!

Apparently Mitt Romney DOES know how to fight Democrats.

Republican Romney critics have long since complained that their party’s presidential hopeful only knows how to take it to other Republicans in the primaries, not to Barack Obama in the actual elections. They said that, for one reason or another, Romney was pulling his punches against his Democrat opposition.

And they were right. Though perhaps not anymore.

When Vice President Joe Biden told a largely black audience that Mitt Romney’s Republicans were “going to put y’all back in chains,” Romney came right back with some noteworthy  – completely justified – jabs of his own, such as his comment that this is “what an angry and desperate Presidency looks like.”

A few other great excerpts from his responses include the call: “Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago.” And there was the statement that Obama’s “campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the Presidency… And the White House sinks a little bit lower.”

But perhaps my favorite was the following:

“This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead, but you don’t hear any answers coming from President Obama’s re-election campaign. That’s because he’s intellectually exhausted, out of ideas, and out of energy. And so his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others. This is an old game in politics; what’s different this year is that the president is taking things to a new low.”

Romney’s bold new tactic against his intellectually (Biden) and morally (Obama and Biden) inferior opponents has to have taken Team Obama by surprise. Sure, the White House barely hesitated before firing back some counterpoints (i.e. lies), but even the Hill noted that “The counter-punches mark a much tougher tone from TeamRomney, who have criticized the Obama campaign before… but never in such blunt or harsh terms.”

This is what we need on our side: Somebody who will tell it how it is instead of kowtowing to the ridiculous threat that any criticism against Obama equals racism.

Choosing Paul Ryan as his running mate was a great move in energizing the Republican side of the presidential race. But it appears that Romney has something to offer all by himself too.

So far, I’m liking what I see. And if I had to guess, I’d say that – after four depressed years under Obama – America will respond positively to the new Romney as well.

Michelle Obama Chides America’s Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas for Eating an Egg McMuffin

Gabrielle “Gabby” Douglas is just about as perfect a picture of an all-American role model as this country can possibly hope for.

The gymnast took on the world – literally – in England’s 2012 Summer Olympics, and she came out in first place. Twice. Taking gold in both the individual competition and the all-around event, all while winning America over with her adorably infectious smile just as much as her amazing abilities.

Naturally, somebody like that gets invited to do multiple TV appearances, so it’s no surprise that she ended up on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show yesterday. And it just so happened that First Lady I-Want-to-Plan-Everybody’s-Nutritional-Intake-Socialist-Style Michelle Obama was there as well.

When Leno asked Gabby if she celebrated at all after her individually won gold, she admitted that she didn’t have time for anything big right then and there, but she did treat herself to a McDonald’s Egg McMuffin. Being the food Nazi that she is, Mrs. Obama quickly cut in with, “Yeah, Gabby, we don’t… Don’t encourage him. I’m sure it was on… a whole wheat McMuffin.”

The audience took it as a joke, but considering the First Lady’s ardent attacks on everything outside of arugula, I’m not really so sure. And even if she really was just trying to make a joke that ended up coming out a bit awkwardly, it’s really not the kind of thing that such a prominent person should be telling a fabulously fit young lady.

Gabby Douglas is teeny-tiny, with arms that look about half the size of mine (And I have small arms!). Her figure is petite and everybody knows that she had to work out hours every day in order to not only make it onto the U.S.A. women’s gymnast team but to go on to win two golds.

In other words, there is absolutely no reason why Ms. Douglas can’t splurge on a McMuffin or two now and again when she wants to. She’s even allowed to round out that meal with a hot fudge sundae and a 16 ounce cup of Coke if she feels like it… the non-diet kind too!

Saying otherwise is a good way to give girls who probably aren’t as fit as Gabby – Really, who is? Other than her fellow gymnasts, of course – complexes about their own weight.

Besides, Gaby Douglas earned two Olympic medals for crying out loud! When Michelle Obama can claim the same, then maybe she’ll have room to talk.

Until then, it’d be really nice if she'd just shut up.

Mitt Romney Makes Wise Choice in Paul Ryan

So Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney did it. He picked his running mate and future vice president, Wisconsin’s U.S. Representative Paul Ryan.

It was a good choice, for a number of reasons, not least of which is that Ryan automatically appeases and even excites the conservative base, much like Sarah Palin did for John McCain back in 2008. (Fortunately, this similarity doesn’t at all indicate the likelihood of a parallel fate, since Mitt Romney does have some semblance of a spine in the political arena. The only time that McCain showed his fighting spirit was when attacking his own party.)

Whereas many conservatives were hesitant or even downright hostile towards the idea of voting for Romney, they can rest a bit easier with Ryan as VP, token though that position can still largely be.

Ryan is, after all, the man who presented the nation with a plan to cut current national costs and the federal deficit in a responsible and even compassionate manner, regardless of what spendthrift liberals like to say. He’s proven that he can stand up for what he believes before the naysaying, hard-hitting, downright lying media, and he can do it with grace, poise and articulation.

And, of course, it certainly doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes.

That’s not to say that looks should matter but, come on, they do… Let’s face the facts. My liberal aunt in California, for instance, didn’t vote for Bill Clinton because “he looks like an ape” but did vote for him the second time around because “he’s really rather handsome.”

Personally, I think her first assessment was much more accurate. Then again, I vote based on conviction, research and common sense, not how a person weighs on the attractive meter.

Call me old-fashioned, but it’s a recognition that Obama has been bad for this country and hope that we can still turn this nation around that has me voting for the Romney-Ryan Republican ticket this fall.

Besides, even if Mitt Romney had chosen a RINO for a running mate, his ticket would still stand out against the disaster-already-happened that is the Obama presidency.

Liberals Don’t Do Logic

In the Bible, Romans 1:22 says something along the lines of “Professing themselves to be wise, they became as fools.”

I think that Paul might have been granted vision into the future – specifically the 21st century – when writing that, because those words fit far too many liberals far too perfectly.

Liberals shun logic like it was the plague, playing off of emotions, appearances, personal attacks and flat-out lies to defend their ideals, largely eschewing facts, figures, common sense and the overarching truth.

For instance, there’s a new Florida ad showing a cutout cartoon of Republican U.S. Representative Allen West punching out senior citizens and women and robbing the non-rich of money, smiling and cackling as he does. All the while, a sympathetic female voiceover informs viewers that:

“West has socked it to seniors, voting to end Medicare as we know it. He’s whacked women with his votes for huge cuts in women’s healthcare funding, and he’s mauled middle class families by supporting a budget plan that would have cut taxes on the rich while eliminating our tax breaks for college tuitions and mortgages.”

That might look and sound compelling enough, but the truth is that Allen West voted for fiscal responsibility and property rights. He understand that the U.S. government is spending far more than it can afford, and unfairly demanding that “the rich” pay for its insupportable habits.

But try telling that to the average liberal, and you risk having your head bitten off.

Unfortunately, I was reminded of that intolerance for the truth recently, when I tried asking a family member to show some respect in his comments on my older sister’s Facebook wall. She doesn’t attack him for the hateful, profanity-laced statuses that he puts up, and so I thought it only fair for him to leave her alone when she expressed her own (much gently worded) opinions on her space.

That wasn’t an option though, not in his liberal book. He made it very well known that my sister, myself and anybody who happened to agree with us did not deserve any such consideration or respect.

To summarize his argument: It’s hateful, it’s bigoted, it’s fear-inspired, it’s ignorant to suggest that he might be wrong, or even to ask if we could agree to disagree. His was the only opinion that mattered, his was the only opinion that had any validity, and so his was the only opinion that could be expressed on his wall or anywhere else.

It’s not logical, nor is it healthy. It’s just liberal.

Obama Says Republicans Want to Take Women Back to the 1950s… While He Drives Americans in General Back to the 1930s

Breitbart has a video up today of President Obama speaking to women.

Personally, I can’t stand when liberals – especially liberal men – bring up womanhood like they have a single clue about what they’re talking about.

They have no regard for the way their policies have hurt women over the years, creating an atmosphere where responsibilities are easier for men to shirk than women, thereby leaving women with the mess to clean up as best as they can.

But that doesn’t matter a single bit to liberals like President Obama, who blow kisses at women with one hand while flipping them off with the other hand not-so-secretly placed behind their backs. Just as long as liberals get their votes, it’s no skin off their noses who gets hurt or demeaned.

That’s why President Obama has no problem getting up in front of a Denver, Colorado audience and accusing Republicans of wanting “to take us back to the policies more suited to the 1950s than the 21st century.”

Well, let’s see…

Back in the 1950s, women didn’t have to worry nearly as much about getting raped in the streets. They didn’t have to be so concerned about their boyfriends getting them knocked up and then pressuring them into abortions they didn’t really want. They could smile friendly smiles at the men around them without having to worry about being leered at like pieces of pornography. And they didn’t have to worry about high divorce rates leaving them stranded with bum for exes who refuse to take responsibility for what’s half their responsibility.

Were the 1950s perfect? Hardly, and I’m sure that rape and pressured abortions and leering and divorce all happened back then. But statistics clearly show that all four of those have been on the rise over the last sixty years, none of which helps women one bit.

Sometimes, as an independent woman who loves her rights and abilities, it’s actually difficult not to fantasize about the 1950s when femininity was still something worth respecting to some degree.

Regardless, the 1950s are twenty years ahead of where Obama wants to take us with his economic policies, which gives voters of both genders one more very good reason to vote Republican this fall.

Breaking News Alert: Canadians Aren’t Always Nice

You know all of those reports that Canadians are just some of the nicest people in the whole entire world?

Well, the 2012 Olympics women’s soccer competition seems to show otherwise, strongly indicating that it’s foolish to apply such close-minded stenotypes to a nation of 34 million.

Now, it has to be stated that this blog post is not meant to insult Canadians at all. Just anybody who ignorantly assumes that, if you’re not American, you have to be superior in some way.

In reality, there are some Canadians who are very nice people. And there are some who are not.

… Just like some Americans will give you the shirt off their back, while others will step over your dying body if you’re in their way.

… Just like there are assuredly Argentinians who help people with no ulterior motives, and there are others who throw cheap shots during international basketball game when they’re mad.

… Just like there are Iranians who take to the streets to fight for liberty and justice, and some will do their very best to trample over people’s individuality as if they have some right to.

Get the picture? Canadians are human. They’re prone to acts of amazing valor and pathetic temper-tantrums, the latter of which was evidenced in the recent Olympic matchup between their female soccer team and the U.S.A.’s.

By all accounts, it was a close game, with both teams fighting hard, making missteps and crossing lines at times. One flagrant example of the latter was when Canada’s Melissa Tancredi appeared “to deliberately step back in order to plant a boot on [U.S. midfielder Carli] Lloyd’s head,” who had fallen down seconds before, as noted by Yahoo! Sports writer Brooks Peck.

Judging by her behavior during the rest of the game, Tancredi, who was apparently called for some seven fouls during the game, appears to be immature in general. And the same goes for her teammates standing by her childish performance during a time when she should be representing her country with pride and poise, win or lose.

She accused referee Christina Pederson of intentionally penalizing Canada and ignoring American violations throughout the game, telling her to her face: “I hope you sleep tonight and put on your American jersey because that’s who you played for today” – even though she herself never got called on the foot-to-the-face incident.

That didn’t seem to phase her teammate, Christine Sinclair, however, who added: “If the United States were honest they’d know they got lucky.”

Yahoo!’s Peck sums up the episode with these wise words: “If you add up all the calls and non-calls for each side, they still might not even out in the end. But then again, they rarely do. The point in showing this is simply to illustrate that the Canadian team’s conspiracy theories are a bit silly.”

“A bit silly” and a strong indication that not all Canadians are such amazing emblems of kindness and generosity.

Philadelphia’s Newest Cold Blooded Criminals Are Seven, 10 and 12-Year-Olds

It’s over to Philadelphia this morning, where criminals just keep getting younger and younger.

Only about a week ago, there were reports of a 13-year-old committing a string of armed robberies in that famous-going-on-infamous city. That was clearly bad enough. But apparently the “City of Brotherly Love” is looking to set some sort of record for how young it can turn its children into criminals, because a new report is out today concerning even younger thugs.

These dreadful children attacked a mentally disabled, 51-year-old Asian woman with plungers, rocks, ropes, flower plants and sticks, then proceeded to ransack her house. According to the Philadelphia arm of CBS, “Authorities say a family friend found the victim in the backyard, on her knees, crying and begging for her life to be spared.”

… Spared from three neighborhood boys aged seven-12.

“It’s amazing that these kids so young can be so violent,” one police officer is noted as commenting.

Is it really all that amazing at this point though? Or is it just typical American life?

It’s certainly becoming typical in cities such as Philadelphia. And who knows how long it’ll be until the same can be said about the rest of the country?

Judging by the rate of our societal decline, that fate is probably a lot closer than we’d like to think.

We Stand with the Sikh Temple Victims in Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Our Fellow Americans

Yesterday, a gunman walked into a Sikh temple in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area and opened fire.

His inexcusable actions left six dead – including the leader of the temple, who apparently threw himself at the gunman in a heroic attempt to stop him – and another four wounded in the senseless shooting.

As the days go by and more details come to light, much is going to be made of the shooter, Wade Michael Page, and his association with Fort Bragg in North Carolina. And the same will be true of the Sikh’s physical resemblances to so many Muslims.

Maybe we should discuss those details. Maybe we shouldn’t. But that’s not really the point right now.

Right now, this country stands with the victims, their families, the larger Milwaukee community and the state of Wisconsin – all our fellow Americans – and grieve with them for an act we currently cannot comprehend.

May God grant them peace and comfort going forward.

What’s the Big Deal about Chick-fil-A?

Ok. Let’s take a moment to recognize that Chick-fil-A might very well be 2012’s most controversial business at this point.

And now let’s really ask exactly why?

After the company’s president, Dan Cathy, admitted what everybody already knew – that he supported the idea of marriage as only being between a man and a woman – an utterly absurd amount of chaos ensued.

The media has to take its fair share of blame, since it blew the story wildly out of proportion, egging certain groups on and vilifying others until practically everyone in the nation was up in arms for one side or the other…

And all because a conservative businessman has conservative views and chooses to donate company funds to conservative groups.

Seriously, so what?

Ben & Jerry’s is a company built by homosexual men, and I’d be willing to bet the whole farm that they don’t go giving money away to groups they don’t agree with. Or how about General Electric, Google, Microsoft, Apple and a whole host of other really big businesses that give the bulk of their charitable donations to left-leaning organizations?

It’s called freedom of expression, people. Whatever happened to agreeing to disagree?

For that matter, what ever happened to perspective?

As a wise woman pointed out to me just yesterday, it’s downright nonsensical to direct so much outrage at Chick-fil-A, which still employs homosexuals, serves them and treats them with respect. (Plus, they make absolutely amazing milkshakes, so clearly they can’t be all that bad.)

OPEC, on the other hand, can claim no such thing. (And it certainly doesn’t produce anything nearly so magnificent as milkshakes.) In fact, the nations that make up OPEC have a tendency to flat-out outlaw homosexuality itself, not just homosexual marriage.

Some of them even punish it by death.

Do you see Chick-fil-A doing any such thing?

Didn’t think so.

So either launch an even more outraged campaign against OPEC or pipe down and let those of us who still want to enjoy our chicken (and milkshakes) in peace.

House Democrats Ignore Chick-fil-A Supporters and the Country’s Real Woes to Encourage President Obama to embrace Illegal Immigrant Families Who Are LGBT

Yesterday’s Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day was a smashing success, with people coming out in droves to support the restaurant, whose CEO recently came out in defense of the traditional definition of marriage (i.e. being between a man and a woman).

His publically voiced stance earned him immediate backlash from the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual) community, who earlier called for boycotts against the chain. But that just drove even more business to Chick-fil-A, as anti-boycotters voiced their own opinions with their wallets, not to mention their time considering the long lines so many patrons waited in across the country.

Completely unfazed by that show of support, however, Democrats in the House – including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi – called on the Obama administration to ensure the “rights” of illegal immigrants, specifically those of LGBT families.

Considering all of the very real societal, fiscal, economic and international problems the U.S. faces right now, it seems enormously clear that forcing Homeland Security to favor illegal immigrants with LGBT leanings is not a high priority.

The fact that a 13-year-old committed a string of armed robberies in Philadelphia – a sign of just how absurdly delinquent and destructive our young people are becoming – could warrant government attention.

And the Obama administration should definitely be concerned with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s reiterated call to “strive for the annihilation of the Zionist regime” (i.e. Israel).

It even seems reasonable to say that the United States government might want to keep an eye on the complete intolerance displayed by other Islamists around the world, such as the ones who just shot Somali comedian Adi Jeylani Malaq Marshale for mocking Al-Qaeda.

But preferential treatment to LGBT illegal immigrants?

Really?

It should be obvious that we have more important issues to focus on right now. And it’s nothing short of pathetic that even some of our politicians think otherwise.

Tea Party Wins in Atlanta, Georgia Vote Against Sales Tax Hike

Atlanta, Georgia just said “sorry, but no deal” to city Mayor Kasim Reed concerning a proposed 1% sales tax hike meant to garner $7.2 billion in transportation revenue.

At least, that’s what Reed’s administration claimed in backing the larger state’s “Transportation Investment Act of 2010.” Unfortunately, as proven by so many other tax hikes and government action in the past, there’s absolutely no guarantee that tax payers would have seen the bulk of that money returned in any way, shape or form.

Debbie Dooley, a local Tea Party leader, said that the vote should “send a message. We the people: You have to earn our trust before asking for more money.”

And really, that is the issue at stake. It’s not a matter of whether Georgia needs to improve its infrastructure. If it’s like most states, it probably does.

But most states also need jobs, yet too many governments around the country continue to passively abide by or aggressively implement business-killing ordinances. They continue penalizing “the rich” (i.e. the working) in favor of “the poor” and “the middle class” (i.e. themselves and anybody who might vote for them.)

Government, much like a naughty child, has proven to its citizens too many times that it can’t be trusted with anything. Important or unimportant.

Hopefully government will get the memo and start to change. One can dream.
