Donald Sterling Banned From NBA for Life and Fined $2.5 Million for Racist Comments

By now, if you pay attention to the news, sports or gossip arenas at all, you should have heard that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was caught making some doubly-bizarre racist comments to his girlfriend in what was supposed to be a private conversation.

An uproar commenced, chaos ensued, protests were organized and Sterling was officially fined $2.5 million and banned from ever again attending “any NBA games or practices.” Nor can he “be present at any Clippers office or facility, or participate in any business or player personnel decisions involving the team.” He’ll also be locked out of any Board of Governors meetings or other league activity.

Again, that’s all for life. And according to Yahoo’s sportscasters, $2.5 million “is the maximum the NBA can issue under the NBA constitution.” Meaning that NBA commissioner Adam Silver might have gone even higher if he legally could have.

Now, Donald Sterling is an idiot, not only for saying what he said but thinking the thoughts in the first place. I don’t feel sorry for him at all.

What I am concerned about, is the larger societal inferences we can make from this stupid saga.

Racist comments are protected under the First Amendment. That’s the downside of the United States Constitution. It allows people a certain degree of ignorance. Hence the reason why Obama got elected not once but twice.

(Oh snap!)

Racist comments are apparently not protected under the NBA’s terms and agreements of ownership. So the organization is legally allowed to throw Donald Sterling under the regulatory bus and run over him as many times as it sees fit. In this case, 2.5 million times. And then some.

Legally, it has every right. But logically? This was a cowardly PR stunt, pure and simple.

He did bring a lot of negative attention on the NBA, so I can see banning him for a year. But inflicting the most drastic punishment possible for expressing some stupid comments?

That’s actually kind-of scary. It tells me that society is terrified of offending certain groups. It says that, as a nation, we are more focused on gaining approval – or even worse, avoiding disapproval – than doing the right thing.

I mean, what would the NBA do if one of its own was involved in an assault allegation? Or rape? Or murder? My guess is not much, since those actual crimes are a lot more societally acceptable than merely hurting the wrong people’s feelings.

Again, Sterling is a racist, and I don’t feel sorry for him one bit. But that doesn’t mean I’m happy about his sentencing. Because it tells me we’re nowhere even close to solving our race issues.

Joe Biden Has “Literally” Met “Every” World Leader out There

It’s a dreary Tuesday (at least in my neck of the woods), so let’s lighten it up by laughing at Joe Biden.

It might not be sporting to laugh at such a nitwit, but it’s also not sporting for such a nitwit to shamelessly, blatantly and repeatedly make a mockery out of the American Constitution.

In other words, he started it. And mocking his nitwitishness isn’t even close to giving as good as the American people are getting.

So let’s laugh while we can.

According to Carrie Dann’s NBC Twitter account, the VP turned himself into a joke yet again, this time at George Washington University, where he said he’s official met “literally every” world leader there is to meet on the face of the planet.

Then he added in a bit of false humility that ended up making him look even more foolish, saying those established contacts were “not because I’m important, but because of the nature of my job.”

“Vice President Joe Biden loves to use the word ‘literally,’ though he’s not so good at using it correctly And on Monday, Biden revealed either that he still doesn’t know when the word is appropriate, or that he’s been zipping around the globe like Santa Claus, defying space and time constraints to meet every single head of state in the world.”

Let me just say I am so glad our Vice President is a Democrat. Because otherwise, I might have to rethink my party.

A Closer Look at the Societal Significance of Bastille’s Hit Song “Pompeii”

There’s a catchy hit song on the radio right now called “Pompeii” by some European group named “Bastille.”

Here’s the bridge and chorus:

And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like you’ve been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

Like I said, it’s a catchy tune. I dare you not to bop in your seat if you hear it on the radio.

But like so many other catchy tunes on the radio, it carries a dangerous message that society is way too drugged-up to pay attention to. Not in the way it should.

The song describes a crumbling city in further distress from physical decay, environmental dangers and probably less tangible onslaughts as well. Yet what does the speaker advise doing?

“Close your eyes.”

“Close your eyes” and pretend that “nothing changed at all.” And while he goes on to question how he can “be an optimist about this?” showing that he’s not completely delusional on the state of his city, he still largely avoids the real question that needs to be asked, which is: How am I going to rectify this? What can I do to right the wrongs and build the walls back up and protect against the coming rain and darkness?

There’s a single moment of clarity in the second half of the song, where the singer asks two questions twice over:

Oh where do we begin?
The rubble of our sins?

Then he’s right back to trying to close his eyes and figure out a way to “be an optimist.”

Here’s a thought that we all need to seriously consider… that maybe there is no way to look at ourselves as a glass half full anymore. Maybe we’re down to two choices instead: Stop pretending that “nothing changed.” Or agree to let our city crumble once and for all.

John Boehner Mocks Republicans Who Oppose Immigration Reform

John Boehner. John Boehner. John Boehner.

I’m shaking my head as I write this. I’ve said before that I think our current Speaker of the House means well. But that doesn’t mean that he does well.

And really, good intentions mean nothing if the results end up ruining the country. Just ask the ever-incompetent Jimmy Carter.

Not that I’m saying Boehner is as willfully clueless as Carter. The former president is in a league of his own in this category.

Yet Boehner still isn’t the best or the brightest we have in Washington. The most recent proof of this lies in his speech before the Middletown Rotary Club in his home district, where he mocked fellow Republicans who weren’t on board with his immigration reform plan.

“Here’s the attitude. Ohhh. Don’t make me do this. Ohhh. This is too hard. We get elected to make choices. We get elected to solve problems, and it’s remarkable to me how many of my colleagues just don’t want to… They’ll take the path of least resistance.”

Actually, no, Speaker Boehner. We don’t elect you and yours to just “make choices.” We elect you to make intelligent choices, to respect the will of the people and their good.

And immigration reform is not for our good. Not unless you’re talking about reforming the system that rewards people for breaking our laws, for taking jobs away from our citizens, for letting our businesses get away with underpaying laborers, for allowing gangs to run amok in our cities while making it absurdly difficult for ethical outsiders to legally stay within our borders.

You are right, however, Speaker, for saying that we elect you “to solve problems.” Problem is you’re not solving anything. You’re making things worse.

Not just you, of course, but all of your Washington friends who are so busy cozying up to big business to pay attention to small business. While you’re intent on playing god, you’re completely ignoring that you’re only the devil’s pawns.

Is it any wonder then that 53% of likely American voters, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, say that neither party represents the public good?

Yeah, I didn’t think so either.

Wake up and smell the garbage dump, John Boehner.

Canada Ships Aborted Babies to United States’ Waste-to-Power Facilities

You want to know what’s wrong with Western society?

We don’t value life. Not really. We might pay great lip service (or what we think is great lip service) to it, but lip service is pretty much all it is at this point.

Case in point: Exactly a month ago, I read a Telegraph article about more than 15,000 aborted babies whose bodies were discarded as “clinical waste” and used to heat British waste-to-energy plants.

And now there’s another news story, this time from, which reports the practice isn’t all that uncommon, since it’s happening an ocean away too between Canada and the United States:

The British Columbia Health Ministry has admitted that the remains of babies destroyed by abortion in B.C. facilities are ending up in a waste-to-power facility in the United States, providing electricity for residents of Oregon.

“The province’s Health Ministry said in an email to the B.C. Catholic that ‘biomedical waste’ shipped to the U.S. to be incinerated includes ‘human tissue, such as surgically removed cancerous tissue, amputated limbs, and fetal tissue.’”

That is disgusting!

What are we? Nazi Germany with its crematoriums?

It would appear so when we’re playing God the same way they did, deciding who has value and who doesn’t and thereby devaluing life as a whole.

This begs the question of who’s going to get thrown into the fire next to fuel the short-term “good” of the many and the long-term demise of our countries?

12 and 14-Year-Olds Go on Mugging Spree in Central Park

There’s a group of young boys, aged 12 to 14, who went off on a mugging spree in Central Park this morning. They stole an iPad and iPhone from two women and punched a man in the face when he refused to fork over his wallet.

12 and 14-year-olds!

And yesterday, I heard about another child in that same age range who belongs to a gang, deals drugs and ran away from his abusive home a week ago. He hasn’t been seen since.

I know I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again… WE ARE NOT DOING OUR YOUTH ANY GOOD with the subliminal and blatant messages we’re sending them through our parenting models, our educational system, our media or our politics.

So since we’re not doing them any good, and they’re the future of this country, you can better believe we’re not doing America any favors either.

Kim Novak Speaks Out Against Bullying but Misses Her Own Culpability

So last week at the Oscars, Kim Novak got a lot of heat from commentators and her fellow celebs about the way she looked.

If you want to see the pictures, click here. Otherwise, take my word for it that she looked like a pufferfish that was stung by a bee. Consequently, the reviews she received were less than flattering.

Understandably, she didn’t appreciate any of them. In fact, they really hurt her feelings. She said, “It really did throw me into a tailspin and it hit me hard… For days, I didn’t leave the house, and it got to me like it gets kids and teenagers.”

But she says she finally decided to take a stand “against bullies. We can’t let people get away with affecting our lives.” Novak went on to acknowledge “I’m not going to deny that I had fat injections in my face. They seemed far less invasive than a face lift. In my opinion, a person has a right to look as good as they can, and I feel better when I look better.”

I’ll agree with her on a few points there, at least in theory. I’m not really sure I’d go so far as to say that “looking good” is a basic right, but I get the point she’s trying to make nonetheless. And hurting people’s feelings for the sake of hurting people’s feelings is wildly immature and completely uncalled for regardless.

Sorry, Donald Trump. But grow up already.

With that said, Kim Novak is 81 years old. 81. Yet her skin is completely wrinkle-free.

For real?

There’s looking good and then there’s denying reality.

Novak is clearly in the latter category. And she’s equally delusional if she honestly believes that paying thousands (or tens of thousands. Who knows) of dollars in cosmetic surgery is the secret to happiness.

I’m not usually one for blaming the victim; but in this case, Novak isn’t helping herself out at all. If she really wants to feel good about herself, she should first accept that she has value above and beyond her physical appearance, particularly the unattainable, man-made notion of beauty she’s so desperately trying to conform to.

Then we can talk about taking down the bullies.

Otherwise, shutting up nasty people isn’t going to do much good at all.

A Good Friday Message for Those Struggling to Have Hope

Today being Good Friday, I’m just going to repost something that I wrote way back when on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.

It stands just as true today as it did nearly half a year ago. And guess what? Another half year down the road, it isn’t going to change either. It’s a constant. Even when we lose sight of it, it’s always there.

Good Friday, being a commemoration of what it is, is exactly the right time for this particular reminder. So without further ado, here we go:

Hope for the Present, Not Just the Future

I’ve always been a woman of hope.

I have always known that my life was in God’s hands and that my future was securely taken care of. I firmly believe he gave me dreams and aspirations for a reason. I know everything I’ve gone through – the good and bad – will eventually work out for his glory and my good on this earth.

And I am positive that my eternity is secure through Jesus Christ.

Even when things don’t seem to go my way in the present, I’ve always known they’ll get better again because I serve a loving God who knows the plans he has for me: plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Lately, however, I’ve been struggling. Big time.

I didn’t lose my hope that God can and will work through my difficulties to bring about something beautiful. I’m just as confident in my earthly and eternal future as I’ve ever been. Yet I’ve nonetheless been depressed in the moment, finding it difficult to focus on that future instead of how rotten I feel in the present.

Here’s the thing though. I’m not supposed to be focusing so heavily on the future. The future is what it is, and what it is is not what I have right here and now. It’s not anything I can make the most of because it’s out of my reach.

It’s not mine to control.

I’ve always thought of hope as happy thoughts about what’s still to come. But I learned something this morning…

Hope isn’t just for whatever is around the corner. It also concerns the present.

And the present is something I have a lot more power over. Not complete power, of course. If I had that, I wouldn’t need to hope.

I can hope that my thoughts and actions and reactions will bring me closer to God. I can pour myself into each moment I’m granted in order to live it to its fullest, hoping – knowing – that even the littlest things can make a difference either in my life or in somebody else’s… maybe even in both.

So yes, God has my tomorrow and next week and next year firmly under control. And, most definitely, I have beautiful things waiting for me up ahead.

But I also have beautiful things he wants to reveal to me in the moment.

And that’s something worth hoping for.

Happy Good Friday, everyone. Easter is on it’s way!

Our Tax-Receivers Way Outnumber Our Tax-Payers … Hint: That’s Not Good

There’s a CNS News article featured on the Drudge Report this morning: “86M Full-Time Private-Sector Workers Sustain 148M Benefit Takers.”

That’s an alarming title. And that’s not the only highly disconcerting fact the link included:

·         The Census Bureau approximated that 103,087,000 people worked full-time, year-round (meaning someone who worked 35 hours or more per week for 50 or more weeks in the year) in the U.S. in 2012. Incidentally, that includes teachers and school administration just as long as they’re contracted for a job come the fall.
·         Of those 103,087,000, 16,606,000 worked for the government, 12,597,000 at state and local levels and 4,009,000 for D.C. and its arms. That means a mere 86,429,000 Americans worked full-time, year-round in the private sector.

Those figures along are disturbing, but they’re not the worst by any stretch of the imagination, because the Census Bureau also recorded how many people in the U.S. were receiving government benefits.

Government benefits are doled out for two reasons: as a debt for services paid, such as in the case of military personnel, Medicare and Social Security recipients); and as an assumed debt to society through Medicaid, food stamps, Supplemental Security Income, public housing, etc., etc.

Here are some figures for that second category, which the Census Bureau deems anyone residing in a household in which one or more people received benefits from the program:”

·         In the last quarter of 2011, around 82,457,000 people lived in households where one or more people were on Medicaid; 49,073,000 where at least one person got food stamps; and 23,228,000 where someone got WIC; 20,223,000 where someone got SSI. And 13,433,000 lived in public or government-subsidized housing.
·         Some government beneficiaries are enrolled in more than one program, so the Census Bureau concluded that there were 108,592,000 individuals in Q4 2011 living in households where someone was getting something on the tax-payers’ dime.

Stack the first set of figures against the second set of figures, and you find that there are 108,592,000 need-based government beneficiaries and only 86,429,000 full-time private-sector workers, a 1.3 to 1 ratio.

But that’s not including the government workers, you might say. That’s true. However, considering that they’re getting government paychecks and government benefits, they’re automatically a larger drain on the economy than they are a benefit.

And those scary statistics also don’t include the 49,901,000 people who were receiving Social Security last time the Censu Bureau checked, or the 46,440,000 receiving Medicare. Or the 5,098,000 getting unemployment compensation. Or the 3,178,000 veterans receiving benefits. Or the 34,000 veterans getting educational assistance.

Getting the big picture yet?

To quote CNS directly, “All told, including both the welfare recipients and the non-welfare beneficiaries, there were 151,014,000 who ‘received benefits from one or more programs’ in the fourth quarter of 2011. Subtract the 3,212,000 veterans, who served their country in the most profound way possible, and that leaves 147,802,000 non-veteran benefit takers.

“The 147,802,000 non-veteran benefit takers outnumbered the 86,429,000 full-time private sector workers 1.7 to 1.

“How much more can the 86,429,000 endure?

“As more baby boomers retire, and as Obamacare comes fully online – with its expanded Medicaid rolls and federally subsidized health insurance for anyone earning less than 400 percent of the poverty level – the number of takers will inevitably expand. And the number of full-time private-sector workers might also contract.

“Eventually, there will be too few carrying too many, and America will break.”

Now that’s really alarming.

Please Shut Up, Global Warming/Climate Change Supporters

It snowed again last night. For like the 10 thousandth time this winter.

Except that it's not winter any more. It's spring. It's well into spring, actually. It's mid-April, for crying out loud!

I'm pretty sure this means that global warming/climate change is officially disproved.

Global warming/climate change supporters? You lose. Get over it.

And please, please, please shut up already. Before someone shoves you into a snow bank. In the middle of April.

Tax Day Would Be a Lot Worse if President Obama Had His Way

So, today is Tax Day. I think. Maybe.

Ok, I’m really not sure, but it doesn’t matter in my case since I did my taxes a month ago. However, for the purpose of this article, let’s just say today is Tax Day… the deadline that Americans have to file out their tax forms to send into the IRS… or else.

On a side note, does it strike anyone else how obnoxious that is? The government takes our money and then demands that we keep track of it taking our money?

Talk about insult on top of injury. I spoke with one person recently who says it takes him 23 hours every year to fill out his forms.

23 hours! When he’s the breadwinner in the citizen-government relationship.

Essentially, taxpayers work hard to bring home the bacon to a lazy, ungrateful shopaholic of a spouse we can’t get rid of… only to have said lazy, ungrateful shopaholic of a spouse tell us we need to do a few more tasks before we can take a much-deserved break.

However, it could be worse. According to Americans for Tax Reform, if President Obama had his way, we’d be forking over even more to the government every year.

Big surprise there, I know. But here’s its findings:

“Since taking office in 2009, President Barack Obama has formally proposed a total of 442 tax increases, according to an Americans for Tax Reform analysis of Obama administration budgets for fiscal years 2010 through 2015.

“The 442 total proposed tax increases does not include the 20 tax increases Obama signed into law as part of Obamacare…

“Perhaps not coincidentally, the Obama budget with the lowest number of proposed tax increases was released during an election year: In February 2012, Obama released his FY 2013 budget, with ‘only’ 34 propose tax increases. Once safely re-elected, Obama came back with a vengeance, proposing 137 tax increases, a personal record high for the 44th President.”

So while you’re grousing today, or sighing or sobbing into your pillow, just remember… It could be worse!

Such a comfort, I know.

Is the Decision to Replace David Letterman With Stephen Colbert Racist?

I never watched more than a snippet or two of the “Late Show with David Letterman.”

That’s partially because David Letterman is a major oinker and partially because I have better things to do than follow celebrity interviews that closely. Sure, they say something funny every once in a while, but they’re such vapid simpletons overall that I just don’t see the appeal.

That’s why I didn’t care when CBS announced Letterman’s resignation. Or when they declared that Comedy Central’s “conservative news anchor,” Stephen Colbert, would be taking his place.

Now, I have watched a few whole episodes of the “Colbert Report.” His sign-off to Budweiser after the InBev deal went public? Hysterical! I mean, sure, he’s an arrogant prat with little understanding of right and wrong, much less logic and nonsense… But he can still be funny.

So really, I suppose the “Late Show” switch-up is for the better. Not that this means I’m going to watch it any more than I was. Again, I’ve got better things to do with my time.

I suppose that’s why I didn’t analyze CBS’s decision very much. I saw the headlines, skimmed an article and moved onto other topics. Until today, when I saw The Christian Science Monitor’s headline: “Amid praise for Stephen Colbert, some ask: What about diversity in late night?”

The article makes the point that “late-night television will largely remain the domain of white male hosts.”

Now, as a conservative, I could largely care less about people’s skin color or gender. If I’m going to listen to a comedian, all I ask is that he or she be entertaining. Just like, if I vote for a politician, all I ask is that he or she behave honorably and intelligently. (Yes, I believe in Pegasuses – Pegasi? Pegasus? Whatever. Winged horsies – too.)

Yet the charge did make me wonder. I mean, it would be weird these days if there wasn’t a single non-male or non-white person in the Senate, for example.

Now maybe, Colbert really was the best replacement. Maybe he had the perfect resume and job interview, whereas the other candidates couldn’t quite compare.

Then again, maybe the Hollywood honchos in charge of that decision are just a bunch of old, racist, sexist white men determined to keep things as comfortable for themselves as possible.

I mean, that’s what they’re constantly telling us whenever a non-male, non-white person is promoted anyway, right? Maybe it’s time we started believing them.

Attorney General Eric Holder Whines About Having to Deal With “That Kind of Treatment”

“A fed-up Attorney General Eric Holder is accusing congressional critics of launching ‘unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly and divisive’ attacks on him and the Obama administration.

“During a speech to the National Action Network, a group founded by Rev. Al Sharpton, in New York on Wednesday lauding the organization’s effort to advance racial equality, a heated Holder went a little off-script.

“‘Forget about me [specifically]. Look at the way the attorney general of the United States was treated yesterday by a House committee,’ Holder told the crowd. ‘What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment? What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?’”

Those paragraphs are the beginning of an ABC article published yesterday. They’re also one giant pile of insanity. While it’s pointless to argue with insane people, let me address Eric Holder’s grievances anyway. You know… Just for kicks and giggles…

In that little clip, he asked two very specific questions:

·         What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?
·         What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?

But how about these follow-ups:

·         What attorney general has ever intentionally allowed guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels for the sole purpose of destroying America’s Second Amendment rights… then withheld documents to cover up his involvement, as Eric Holder did in the Fast and Furious scandal a few years ago?
·         What president, other than Obama, has ever thrown America under the bus to this degree: bowing to dictators; funneling money to cronies; shoving socialism down our throat in the form of Obamacare, et al; lying to us at every turn about matters of national importance where American lives were lost, such as with Fast and Furious and Benghazi; etc., etc., etc., ad nauseam?

When attorney generals and presidents behave in such an indecorous, immature and dangerous manner, they warrant “that kind of treatment.”

If Eric Holder really wants to be treated with more respect, he should first learn to behave like he deserves any.

Our Uneducated Citizens Are in Serious Need of an English Lesson

We really need to establish English as the official language of the United States.

If you’re liberal, you’ll probably accuse me of racism for saying that. If you’re an educated liberal, you might even deem me a protectionist and accuse me of fostering nationalism. If you’re an uneducated liberal (repetitive, I know), you’ll just call me a hater.

But here’s the thing… Nobody knows what they’re talking about anymore! The English language has been so disrespected that our citizens – and non-citizens – don’t have a clue what words actually mean, making up definitions as they go along.

Like former Patriots linebacker, Brandon Spikes, who’s now with the Buffalo Bills. He took to Twitter yesterday, likening his time with the New England team to slavery.

Clearly, Spikes needs an English lesson, since slaves don’t get paid an annual hundred-thousand plus salary. Slaves actually get paid zip. That’s the definition of a slave: an unpaid individual forced to work for some owner’s will. Slaves do what they’re told, or they get beaten.

Speaking of athletes gone stupid, there’s Baseball Hall of Fame’s Hank Aaron, who expressed his political views to USA Today on Tuesday, comparing Republicans to the KKK:

“President Obama is left with his foot stuck in the mud from all of the Republicans with the way he’s treated…. The bigger difference is that, back then, they had hoods. Now they have neckties and starched shirts.”

Again, English lesson required. When you’re comparing the Republican Party and the KKK, “bigger difference” would refer to the fact that Republicans don’t go around burning crosses in blacks’ yards, or hanging them from trees, or dragging them behind their cars until they’re dead. Apparel choices don’t even come close to matching any of that.

Moving on to celebrities, the ever dense Alec Baldwin declared “The film ABOVE ALL ELSE shows how oil, and keystone in particular, destroy our lives..” on his Twitter account yesterday.

Alec Baldwin, of course, is the poster boy for uneducated liberals. And yup, when someone called him an ignoramus for his stance, he ended up using some gay slurs. This guy never learns, so I won’t bother telling him that “destroy” is a negative (i.e. not nice) term, while oil has let our economy grow more than our Founding Fathers ever imagined (i.e. It’s a good thing.).

Which brings me to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who posed naked for Rolling Stone with the Preamble to the United States Constitution printed on her back. Someone should really school her in the definitions of “feminism,” “dignity” and “respect.” Oh yeah, and also clue her in that 53-year-olds should be mature enough to not pose naked for Rolling Stone with the Preamble to the United States Constitution printed on their backs.

Actually, anyone of any age should be more mature than that.

Thus concludes the lesson.

Brandeis University Rescinds Honorary Degree Offer to Former Muslim and Victim of Islam Ayaan Hirsi Alis

I’m genuinely not trying to be an anti-Islamic jerk here. I’m not some sheltered innocent who has never met a Muslim before, and I understand that non-Muslims can be just as reprehensible as the most extreme of Islamists.

Case in point: the Detroit mob that beat a driver into a coma after he accidentally hit a child and stopped to attend the boy. Or how about the little cretin who went into his high school in Pennsylvania this morning and started slashing people with the knife he’d brought with him.

So yes, humans of any religion, race or nationality can all too easily behave like savages. I recognize that. It’s practically impossible not to these days.

But it’s also practically impossible to believe that Islam is overall harmless. Muslim brutality has been too well documented around the world, from America’s 9/11, the London tube bombings, the torture and executions conducted during the 2013 mall hostage crisis in Kenya, and the machete rampage in a crowded Chinese train station last month…  to the disgusting levels of sexism practiced throughout the Muslim world, and the persecution of Christians across Muslim nations, including Mary Sameh George, a young Egyptian who was dragged from her car, beaten and stabbed to death by an angry Muslim mob only a week or two ago.

Yet even after all of that, we’re not allowed to say there’s something wrong with Islam, or wonder whether it might sow seeds that more easily cultivate evil than other modes of thinking.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali knows that evil firsthand. She grew up Muslim in Somalia, where she experienced female genital mutilation at age five and has since been the subject of a fatwa or two thanks to her stance for women’s rights and against the abuse of women in Muslim communities.

Because of her AHA Foundation, which “works to protect and defend the rights of women and girls in the West from oppression justified by religion and culture,” Brandeis University in Massachusetts decided to grant her an honorary degree, which was promptly protested by 86 faculty members. Here’s what one of them, Bernadette Brooten, had to say on the matter:

“As one of your professors at Brandeis… I am deeply saddened by all that this selection has meant for Muslim students, faculty and staff at Brandeis and for your non-Muslim allies. A group of 86 faculty members has signed a letter to President Lawrence, asking him to rescind the invitation. We stressed that we recognize the harm of female genital cutting, forced marriages, and honor killings, but that this selection obscures the violence against women that happens among non-Muslims, including on our campus. I recognize the harm of engendered violence wherever it occurs, and I applaud the hard, effective work of the many Muslims who are working to oppose it within their communities.”

So because other people are jerks to women, we can’t call out Muslims for being jerks to women? What a worthless, arrogant, destructive little coward. Her and her colleagues.

God Doesn’t Favor Republicans Over Democrats Because Republicans Are Morons Too

I went to church with my sister on Saturday evening, where the pastor was winding up a sermon on how to study the Bible. To illustrate his points, he asked 10 different questions, one of which was: “Does God favor Republicans or Democrats?”

I made a joke to my sister that God didn’t favor either. It was conservatives he liked the best. Some irritating lady several pews behind me spoke up a lot louder to declare that “God doesn’t favor either. And to those who think he does, he’s up there laughing at you.”

It was obvious she was a liberal just by her know-it-all and actually belittling attitude alone. The funny thing is that she clearly had her own political agenda in answering the question, when the conclusion the pastor wanted us to reach was that we shouldn’t take our political agendas with us when we study the Bible.

As much as it pains me to admit it though, the woman was right. Not in the real point she was trying to make but in the actual words that came out of her mouth.

God really doesn’t favor Republicans over Democrats.

Why not, when so many Democrat policies are destructive, godless and even downright evil?

That’d be because so many Republicans are destructive, godless and downright stupid.

Take Congressman Vance McAllister, a Republican representative from Louisiana who ran on his Christian values to get elected. Apparently the husband and father of five  doesn’t study the Bible nearly enough though. Otherwise he’d know that it kinda frowns on adultery.

According to The Ouachita Citizen, the cheating scumbag “issued a statement Monday afternoon, ‘asking for forgiveness’ after” getting “captured in a video recording passionately kissing and embracing a member of his congressional staff.”

I watched part of the video. It wasn’t an “oops, my lips just found yours accidentally” kind of kiss… if there is that kind of kiss to begin with. It was a familiar, pre-meditated lip-lock that was, frankly, disgusting. Not because it was PDA but because it was about to hurt his family a whole lot more than it was worth.

If he can’t handle the basic responsibility of being a husband and a father, then there’s no reason to think he can honestly serve his constituents.

And that right there is why God doesn’t favor Republicans over Democrats. Because the Democrats may be bad, but it’s getting more and more difficult to call their political opponents the good guys.

President Obama Isn’t Tough on Illegal Immigration; He’s Only Tough on Legal Citizens

Let’s talk President Obama and illegal immigration.

You may or may not have seen the stories saying that President Obama is tough on illegals. That’s a claim I always found laughable, since we’re talking about one of the most liberal U.S. presidents we’ve ever had…

He’s anti-U.S. military, anti-Israel, anti-small business, anti-Second Amendment, pro-abortion, pro-nanny state, pro-raised taxes and pro-paying off cronies with U.S. taxpayers’ money. But we’re supposed to believe he’s tough on illegals?

Ummmm… Yeah. Sure. Not.

I don’t need the Los Angeles Times to tell me the truth on this one, though I will use the liberal publication to say “duh” nonetheless:

“Immigration activists have sharply criticized President Obama for a rising volume of deportations, labeling him the ‘deporter in chief’ and staging large protests that have harmed his standing with some Latinos, a key group of voters for Democrats.

“But the portrait of a steadily increasing number of deportations rests on statistics that conceal almost as much as they disclose. A closer examination shows that immigrants living illegally in most of the continental U.S. are less likely to be deported today than before Obama came to office, according to immigration data.

“Expulsions of people who are settled and working in the United States have fallen steadily since his first year in office, and are down more than 40% since 2009.

“On the other side of the ledger, the number of people deported at or near the border has gone up — primarily as a result of changing who gets counted in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's deportation statistics.

“The vast majority of those border crossers would not have been treated as formal deportations under most previous administrations. If all removals were tallied, the total sent back to Mexico each year would have been far higher under those previous administrations than it is now.”

Come on guys… This is a President who plays with the unemployment numbers, energy production numbers, Obamacare enrollment numbers and any other set of statistics he can to always make himself look good… which means very rarely if ever telling the truth.

So of course this was all smoke and mirrors. Again, no duh.

U.S. Veterans Facing “Suicide Epidemic”

With the latest Fort Hood shooting only two days behind us, the spotlight is being thrown on the mental and emotional state of all military or former military personnel. Hence the reason why it’s coming to light that over 20 veterans are committing suicide every day.
One life lost is horrible enough, but 20 veterans a day adds up really quickly. It’s gotten so bad that some people are referring to the problem as a “suicide epidemic.”
National Journal notes: “To help address the growing problem, Democratic Sen. John Walsh of Montana introduced legislation last week that includes provisions to force the Pentagon to reexamine troops who were discharged for PTSD-related behaviors – which can include nightmares, flashbacks, changes in personality, sleeping disorders, and suicidal thoughts.
“This bill also expands veterans’ eligibility to enroll in VA health care from five to 15 years after leaving the military. The current system doesn’t take into account the fact that some veterans have a delayed reaction to trauma after they leave the service, according to veterans’ advocates.”
That’s a very nice idea. And apparently Walsh is an Iraq War veteran himself, so I’m sure he means well in this matter. But with all due respect, I don’t think throwing money at the problem is going to make it go away. Not be any stretch of the imagination.
I’m thinking we might be facing this “suicide epidemic” for a completely different reason than lack of proper funding… That our veterans might just be killing themselves because they feel like they served for nothing. They risked their limbs and lives for nothing. They sacrificed their time and freedom for nothing.
Washington certainly gives that impression, taking away freedoms instead of protecting them. And our citizens don’t exactly act like they respect what our soldiers fight for. Most of us go around acting as if we’re the only ones that matter, while too many take the next detrimental step by actually terrorizing our fellow Americans, turning this country into a war zone in and of itself.
What do we then expect to happen to our veterans?
Do we think they’re then supposed to be happy about the subtle and blatant disrespect they receive? The fact that we’re spitting on our shared flag and their uniforms in particular – sometimes literally?
If we really cared about our veterans, we'd start caring about our country. Until then, I don't expect this tragedy to get any better.

Fort Hood Gets Shot Up Again

Texas military base Fort Hood, the site of the 2009 terrorist attack by U.S. military officer and Islamic extremist Nidal Hassan, was just hit again yesterday.

Back in 2009, we were told over and over and over again that it wasn't a terrorist attack. That it had nothing to do with Islam. That it was just an unfortunate case of PTSD that led Major Hassan to gun down more than a dozen people around him.

Today, we're being told the same thing about Iraq War Veteran Ivan Lopez, who killed three people and wounded sixteen before turning the gun on himself.

Who knows. Maybe it's true this time. Maybe it isn't.

Right now though, I'm not going to bother speculating one way or the other. Unlike the press, I'm more interested in the truth.

And one of the most immediate and obvious truths available is that people are grieving: family members who lost loved ones, and still-living victims who are in the hospital trying to come to grips with their injuries.

So for now, all I’m going to say is that my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone at Fort Hood and everyone directly involved.

April Fools! White House Declares Obamacare Enrollment Reaches 7-Million Mark

Yesterday, there was a lot of cheering from the White House about how 7 million people had signed up for Obamacare.

Considering that they were only at – what? – 3 million two few months ago, I didn’t believe a word of it. I didn’t even bother to read the articles, figuring that it would be akin to reading a children’s book on dragons… The only reason to open it up would be for the entertainment factor.

It wasn’t until this morning when I was scanning the Drudge Report headlines, however, that I realized the significance of that message being broadcasted on that day.

It was April Fools Day.

Which means that anyone who fell for those figures is a sucker twice over.
