After a tumultuous 2014, I’m going to come out and say “Happy New Year” to everyone who made it into 2015.
As everyone in America – and too many places elsewhere – knows by now, that survivors’ list doesn’t include Michael Brown or Eric Garner, who were both killed by police officers.
However, not many people know or care about the 50 police officers across the nation who also lost their lives last year. Incidentally, that number jumped by 56% over 2013, incidentally.
Perhaps we should hold protests and meetings and facilitate open discussions about those murdered men and women?
If it makes any difference, I’m sure some of them were black.
